This is a full color book where we have matched as closely as possible the colors found on an artists color wheel. This book IS pre-printed with color, and is meant to help “get you in the ballpark” when it comes to picking colors from your tools. For example, you could pick a color scheme that you like from the book, and then pull out your colored pencils and match as close as you can the colors on the printed page. (Keep in mind, it will never match perfectly…a printer’s CMYK colors are completely different from the pigments/inks and fillers found in coloring tools. But the printed book will help you get as close as possible.) This book can be used with any coloring tool…how it differs is that it doesn’t give you exact names and numbers of the tools (because of course we could never include those for every coloring tool out there.) The bright side is that you don’t have to color the book. 🙂

“Quick Color Picker” is a Tri-Tone Color Scheme Selector Tool that will help you quickly and easily choose colors for your next coloring project. This 36-Page book is printed full-color on our high-quality mixed-media paper. It contains everything you need to not only start picking colors right away, but also learn a little color theory in the process. Here’s what comes in the book:

  • Artist Color Wheel: a full-color printed artist color wheel.
  • Premium Color Scheme Selector: our color scheme selector tool with the most popular color schemes.
  • Tri-Tone Sets Swatch Chart: a full-color version of our master tri-tone sets swatch chart.
  • Tri-Tone Mini Wheels: full-color tri-tone mini wheels to help you see how the light, medium and dark colors look together. NEW–now includes an additional mini color wheel!
  • Tri-Tone Swatch Strip: a full-color tri-tone swatch strip that you can cut out and use in your coloring tool case.
  • Tri-Tone Color Schemes: full-color color schemes for all of the colors found on the artist color wheel! NEW–now includes Complementary-Analogous color schemes!
  • Color Swatch Page: a full-color swatch page for reference.
  • Blank Swatch Page: a blank swatch page for you to use.
  • Video Training: videos to show you how to use all of the tools in this book.

The quick color picker ha really helped me to use color I may not have used on certain pictures. I can just pick my main color and it shows me what other color I can add to my picture. I can use this no matter which colored pencils I am using .I have really enjoyed this immensely.

This was everything as advertised! This book is very helpful to get a beginner, like me, organized and ready to start coloring! I found the swatch strip particularly useful and have adapted it to all of my Prismacolor pencils, making it even easier to choose what I want.
    Thank you, Jennifer!

    Therese-Marie Blazek

Not only are Jennifer & Steve more relatable, their videos show forethought, knowledge & preparation. They are not pushing an an agenda to sell a product, but actually genuinely excited about learning & passing on their knowledge.

I just finished swatching out the Color Picker specific to the Prisma color Pencils & was very surprised how very much color theory I learned in the Process (even after 8 years of Art School). Started using my Polychromos more lately & decided to get the Color Picker specific to the Polys & swatch them & see what they will teach me…!
    Thank you Jennifer & Steve…!

    Connie Schwartz (verified owner)

I’ve loved colouring since I was a little girl. I came back to colouring recently as an adult as a way to destress and relax but found that the need to choose the “right” colours for each picture was causing stress and not lessening it! 🙂 Jennifer and Steve’s “Quick Color Picker” tool is AMAZING and it’s given me back my love of colouring.
Thank you, Jennifer and Steve, for producing the single most useful colouring tool I’ve ever come across. 🙂

I am new to colouring, and now I feel that with your colour picking manual in hand, I jump right in. Although I have modest skills in several art forms, selecting a good palette has always been a challenge and yet I know it can make or break a successful project. I understand the colour wheel but having it all presented in combos makes it much easier and I find myself responding to certain colour groups – both a time saver and confidence booster. Thank you Jennifer and Steve. Your entire website and products, the community you have created and your unlimited generosity of information is amazing – I’m hooked!!

Great reviews; I’m interested in ordering the book as it looks like a tool that every colorist would love to have.

Jennifer, in your video for this reference guide, you mention that you plan on releasing additional information for Polychromos, PrismaColor, etc. When do you hope to have that released? Will they be released as one book or will they be released as separate books?

I am finally able to like what colors I put together.

    Pamela-s (verified owner)

I purchased this system in July of this year, and just got around to using it. I am so pleased with the ease with which I can choose a scheme due to your twelve page layout of each color and it’s combinations. I can see what I will like before I invest the time and material on a project. I have always understood the color wheel, but could not come up with a good finished project before. Now I can because I see the possibilities and choose the one I like best. Such a simple Idea, that never occurred to me. I really appreciate all the work that you and your husband put into this system. I can color now! Thank you very much.

I happened to be watching one of Jennifer’s videos and learned of her Quick Color Picker and I decided to purchase. Let me tell you, if you are a serious artist/colorist, this is a definite must-have. It saves me so much time in picking out the colors I need because Jennifer and her husband did all the work for us. You just can’t ask for anything more than that. A great purchase! Get yourself one!

    Great place to start...

    barbc2507 (verified owner)

I purchased the Quick Color Picker bound, so I had a good place to start. I immediately started using it and realized that it was just what a colorist needs to help with decision making. I printed out a set for my Arteza pencils and started filling it in. Boy, did I learn about my pencils. It seems to me that if a person wants to grow in this wonderful hobby this is the place to start. Along with all of Jennifer and Steve’s videos it’s a no-brainer! I can’t wait, every day, to get to the next video and keep learning. I completed a set for my Arteza colored pencils and am working on one for my Arteza watercolor pencils. I also just received a bound set for my polychromos pencils. I could have made my own copies but I just love the way the bound set looks. You really learn about you pencils, how they color and blend and how to think about them when creating a new project! Don’t hesitate.

This book is the best thing since sliced bread!! It has made color picking, which I am not that good at, so much easier. The book is gorgeous, with bright true colors and the paper is thick and substantial and will hold up to much flipping and throwing around! 🙂

This system is absolutely beautiful. It takes the pain and decison process so much easier. It is truly a very easy system to use and made easy to understand. It is a must have in my art collection. Thank you Jennifer and Steve for your time and effort to make coloring so much fun and more beautiful with all the details that you share and put into this beautiful book. The pages are so nice and the colors and theories that you use are very useful. No more guessing for me! You made is so easy for using colors. Thank you for sample papers with graphics so we can see and feel the difference in papers.

    Love IT!

I love this book! I do not have to be confused as to what colors will work together and look good. I’ve colored in the past and the picture has just looked ODD, and I find myself asking “What was I thinking using those colors?!” With this book I won’t or shouldn’t be asking myself that type of question again. I love the thick paper and there are no smudges or worry about will my printer do this justice. I ordered the book on the first day that they had it available and I’ve loved it. I have been recommending this book to all of my friends because I am just so impressed with the job you both have done. If I could I’d hug you both. That is how great I think this book is and how well it has helped me with my color picking.

    A Must Tool for Colorists!

    Tika Carr (verified owner)

This is what I consider a must-have for anyone who loves to color. Steve and Jennifer thought of literally everything! You get color wheels, all kinds of swatches including tri-tones and even some to put in your pencil cases, and even some blank swatch pages for your favorite and most-used pencils, markers, pens, etc! The book is printed on very sturdy paper which should withstand a lot of use. I personally got an unbound version so I could put it in page protectors in my 3-ring binder I keep for art stuff. They even included small samples of their watercolor, mixed media and colored pencil paper with a pretty image on one side to color and try out the paper and the information about the paper on the other side. Very high quality book and free samples! I love using the book to select color schemes for coloring pages and artwork. This method (along with Jennifer’s videos) takes the guess work out of learning the color wheel and what colors will go great together to make a beautiful picture! Thank you to Steve and Jennifer for all their hard work on this must-have resource!

Hi this might be a silly question but does the book come colored or do you have to do it your self….i get so confused when it comes to doing swathes and picking colored or trying to figure out doing the color wheel…i have tried watching some you tube videos but I just feel so lost and not sure where to start…i stopped coloring for over a year because I just feel so lost.

Hi Beata, the Quick Color Picker comes already colored–no need to color anything yourself. The video above will show you how to use it. On the other hand, the brand-specific “Tri-Tone Workbooks” come UNCOLORED, and you color in the swatches and wheels using the tool names and numbers provided in the workbook.

The tutorials and the tools to use provided by Jen & Steve are awesome. Very satisfied with my purchase. The material was easy to download and print quality of coloring pages has been excellent.
