Prismacolor Premier vs Faber-Castell Polychromos Colored Pencils

Prismacolor vs Polychromos – Colored Pencils Comparison

– Posted in: Colored Pencils Reviews

Which are better, Prismacolor Premiers or Faber-Castell Polychromos? Now that’s a question! I am frequently asked this question and after much thought I decided to make a score card and video to help me (and you) figure it out!

Truthfully, this question can only be answered by you, for you because there are too many variables to take into consideration. What’s important to me may not be important to you, and visa-versa. For example, what’s more important to you–the overall number of colors available or the number of lightfast colors available? Are bold colors or smooth blends more important to you? Do you like to color on dark papers? Does coloring make your hands hurt? Are you in North America or Europe?

All of these questions and more are taken into account in my score card, helping you determine once and for all which brand you should buy–Prismacolor or Polychromos.

I really like your thorough reviews. I would love to see a score card with Blick colored pencils VS Prismacolor.

Trying to decide which pencils I prefer is an ongoing decision for me, and I really am looking forward to using the score card I printed out. I have a large selection of Prismacolors, and some Fantasias as well as some new sets of Spectrum Noir pencils. Making swatch charts & score cards are almost as much fun as coloring & it really helps when I have to decide which pencils to use for a project. I love the pages you provide for us. Thank You so much, and Thank You also for these marvelous videos. I am learning so much & I am really hooked on this new to me art form.
