JPEG vs PDF Printing

When you’re looking for printable coloring pages, you may run into the problem of knowing how to print them on a computer.

If the coloring sheets are jpeg picture files, you can print them directly from your browser. You can also right-click the picture, save it to your desktop, and then open it on your computer to print.

However, if the coloring sheet is a pdf file, then you will need to download a program like the Adobe Reader. Then you can open the file and print right from the print menu.

How to Print Coloring Pages on Black Paper

The process for printing a coloring page on black paper is the same as above. However, there are a couple of things you can do to get the best results.

  1. Print in Color instead of just Black & White. This will make the black lines of your coloring page just a little darker–which will help them show up better on the black paper.
  2. Select the Highest Print Quality. This makes the printer use more ink or toner than the normal printing mode. This in turn helps the black lines appear better on black.
  3. Select the Heaviest Weight Paper Option. If your printer has it, and if you’re printing on card stock, then selecting this option can also make a difference. It slows the printer down, giving it time to apply and set more ink or toner.
