Uni-ball Signo is the best white gel pen on the market, in my opinion. Love it. You may well have gotten that as a suggestion before. But I’m so impressed with Signo I tell everyone about it. Good luck !

Good to know about the Signo–I’ll definitely pick one up! Thanks. πŸ™‚

I have just discovered pencil coloring. I didn’t think I would like it because I am an “artist” and I thought that may be beneath me! LOL! At this point in my elderly life, I LOVE to do this at night while watching tv. I don’t obsess as much as I did when painting with water colors. Thank you for your information and videos.

    • Jennifer Stay Jul 16, 2016 @ 15:16

πŸ™‚ I’m so glad you discovered pencil coloring and especially how therapeutic and relaxing it can be!

I LIKED WATCHING YOUR WORK WITH GEL PENS. HAVE YOU EVER BLENDED GEL PENS WITH COLORED PENCILS? WHERE DID YOU GET THE GEL GLITTER PEN? ALSO THE WHITE PEN? HAVE YOU TRIED THE METALLIC PENCILS? SEND ME A RESPONSE TO MY EMAIL. HAPPY COLORING.

    • Jennifer Stay Jul 19, 2016 @ 11:44

Thank you Karen! I actually have a video I made where I specifically blend gel pens with colored pencils. πŸ˜‰ https://youtu.be/dWy6K17xumg Yes, some of the pens I use in the tutorials are glitter, some are white. I have played with the metallic pencils a bit, but not as much as the metallic gel pens–which I love!

Well, do I feel silly! I have probably 150 gel pens that I bought for line drawing (and because I have an obsession!). I never knew they could be used for blending. Loved your videos. I can’t wait to make better use of my collection.

Hiya! Gelly Roll also has an awesomish white. But I’m also a total amatuer, but I learned early on ( by accident) the gelly roll pens are great.?

Hi Jennifer! I am so glad to find someone else who is obsessed with gel pens!! I see so many people say that colored pencils are the best, most versatile, etc, but I just KNEW there had to be a way to blend the gel pens just as beautifully as the pencils! Thanks for showing us how! I’m also glad to see someone else who has had good success with Dollar Store gel pens! They were my first, and I still love them and keep buying more. Now I don’t feel like some sort of peon anymore lol, like I do when people talk about how they can’t live without their jelly rolls, or their copic markers, etc.!

You have solved my problem!I am just new to gel pens and have used colored pencils for years. I needed a way to cover large areas with colors I didn’t have in my pens. I thought of water color but that would take time to dry and my buckle the paper. Now I can combine the pencils with them. And also continue using the pencils I love. Thank you so much.

Are you able to post pictures I just want Ideas? Thank you.

  • Barbara Hudson Feb 25, 2026 @ 10:34

I found this idea online and thought I would share it. For those of you who get frustrated going through a number of swatch books to pick colors try this idea. Swatch the color on an Avery address label 5267 and wrap the label around the pen or pencil. You immediately see the color and don’t have to go through several swatch books to find what you want. You can also lay the pens (pencils) out in a line to see if the colors go together the way you want. I store my pens (pencils) on their side. If you store yours point down, you can use a dot type label on the end opposite the point to accomplish the same thing. I’ve saved tons of time and frustration using this idea. Hope it helps.
