I have been a premium member a few times but when finances got tight I had to cancel. I’m looking to start coloring and playing with all my different art media again so I just learned of the coloring academy. Entering purely for the chance to win the combo book! It will definitely be a future purchase if I’m not the lucky winner. I use my Luminance and Lightfast together all the time. They are even in the same huge case. They play so nicely together
I love that you think outside the box (literally) and combine similar quality pencils from different manufacturers to get that “perfect” blend. As far as the OLO markers go, I really like them. Comparing them on a color by color basis to Copics, they are their own brand for sure (for instance the cool grays OLO offers are a rosier shade than the bluer Copics), but they are less expensive and have a lovely feel on paper.

I have never used the Caran d’Ache LUMINANCE or the Derwent Lightfast but I do love my Prismacolors! I just buy open stock so I can pick the Lightfast pencils. There are gaps in colors but I do the best I can with what I have.

Wow you start the year with a Bang. It’s a amazing what work you put in it.
It’s a great idea to combine the Luminance and the Lightfast, but have you already considered to fill some gaps in the lightfast with the Derwent Drawing pencils? I think the three work great together.
My inner child is obsessed with lightfastness after watching art fade while waiting for it’s recipient to return, so I tend to use my few Albright Durer Magnus from a “school set” found at a good price a lot now. These giveaways you do are awesome. Thank you!

I have both Prismacolor pencils and Polychromo pencils. Using Jennifer’s blending thirds, I find that the Polychromo pencils give me a better blend in most coloring books/pages.

I found your YouTube channel when I was searching for reviews on Ohuhu markers and gel pens. I was so happy because it’s been difficult to find someone that I can understand clearly, doesn’t speed through their videos, and takes the time to actually show their viewers the ins and outs of what they are presenting. Thank you for taking your time doing that. I wish I would have been more interested in art when I was in high school and taking art classes (sounds redundant, I know, but I only took them back then because I went to a small high school and I’d already taken the electives I could, so art was the last option for me). I guess better late than never. My daughter loves art, too, so I’ve been having weekly drawing challenges with her to help her improve her skill and, subsequently, improving mine, too! I really wanna get my pencils organized in threes like u have with the little paper clips but I’m not sure which forms of yours to use to match them up in my case to get the sets of three combos together in my pencil case, it’s hardfir me to understand your packets of different pencils and what all the colors mean and stuff

I never even heard of liquid paraffin before. I feel encouraged by the fact that paraffin is the main ingredient in most crayons. Maybe even in wax based colored pencils?

I am so glad to have found this channel. I am just now able to start spending time with my granddaughters (I have been caring for my mother and she was such this last 1-2 years that having them over was not an option). Coloring with good quality pencils should be encouraged early in life. You never forget the satisfying feeling of coloring with brightly pigmented, soft-core pencils.

My first Coloring Bliss experience was a YouTube that popped up in my feed. It was an excellent introduction to the world of Coloring Bliss where different solutions were tested for blending colored pencils using Gamsol, baby oil, alcohol, liquid paraffin, and Aquaphor. It was informative. Maybe being new to this, I am asking a lot. Though the demonstration was excellent, I thought a more comprehensive demonstration would have been even better. I would have liked to have seen different papers used and a blending pencil or blending pencils in addition to the five blending mediums tested. Since I am not yet a colorist, and you already have these things, it could better help me determine what I might like to purchase without acquiring a lot of products that do not suit my needs. I do thank you for your efforts.

I found it very useful as currently, I don’t use anything to help me blend, just the pencils & occasionally my Colourless Blender by Prismacolor. I just stumbled across your site and I’m delighted to learn more about the Derwent Inktense pencils. I’ve used these in the past but you have given me a new direction to try. Thank you for your careful demos showing different pencils and different methods for using these pencils as well as some I’ve not heard about. I am expanding my horizons re: art supplies. I have always been a coloured pencil girl but hopping on board the watercolour metallics by Kuretake train with a detour to check out the Art Nouveau set. I am a paradox. Metallic bling offset by an appreciation of the more muted or Morandi colours. Both are on my wishlist

I have two sets of Prismacolor pencils. One set is in a binder in color order. The other is in order of your tri-blends. Thanks for the inspiration.
I rejoined as a paid subscriber after seeing the post today because I miss being a part of all the therapy it provided me after losing my sister-in-law and husband in a matter of two years. It’s been difficult to manage life but I know I will be a lot better off by getting back into my coloring. It is very therapeutic and I so need it.
